The Holy Eucharist - The Priesthood
Although the Word Eucharist does not
appear literally in the Bible, we can see even from the Old Testament how the Sacrifice of
Thanksgiving for the forgiveness of sins is offered personally by the Lamb of God who
takes away
the sins of the world. He is the priest, the altar and the sacrifice.
On the night of the Last supper, He instituted two
Sacraments:
the Priesthood ( Holy Orders ) and the Eucharist.
Genesis 14:18

and wine; he was priest of God Most High.

priest, has turned back my wrath from the Israelites by manifesting such zeal among them
on my behalf that in my jealousy I did not consume the Israelites.

12 Therefore say, 'I hereby grant him my covenant of
peace.
13 It shall be for him and for his descendants after
him a covenant of perpetual priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and
made atonement for the Israelites.' "
Psalm 50:23
23 Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me;
to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God."
Psalm 116:13
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and
call on the name of the LORD,
Proverbs 9:4-6
4 "You that are simple, turn in here!" To
those without sense she says,
5 "Come, eat of my bread and drink of the
wine I have mixed.
6 Lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the
way of insight."
Proverbs 14:9
9 Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy
God's favor.

20 Thus says the LORD: If any of you could break
my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night would
not come at their appointed time,
21 only then could my covenant with my servant David
be broken, so that he would not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with my
ministers the Levites.
22 Just as the host of heaven cannot be numbered and
the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will increase the offspring of my servant
David, and the Levites who minister to me. (priests)

17. As for you, mortal, thus says the Lord GOD:
Speak to the birds of every kind and to all the wild animals: Assemble and come, gather
from all around to the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great

shall eat flesh and drink blood.

my covenant with Levi may hold, says the LORD of hosts.
5 My covenant with him was a covenant of life and
well-being, which I gave him; this called for reverence, and he revered me and stood in
awe of my name.
6 True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong
was found on his lips. He walked with me in integrity and uprightness, and he turned many
from iniquity.
7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge,
and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of
hosts.
Malachi 2:8
8 But you have turned aside from the way; you have
caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says
