THE
GOSPEL OF CHRIST
AS LIVED BY POPE
JOHN PAUL II
1920 - 2005
With excerpts from some of
his writings
The Holy Father Pope John Paul II was a remarkable
man, whose good example was an imitation of the life of Christ, he
was the Shepherd of the Catholic Church since October 18, 1976 until April
2, 2005.
In an unprecedented way the whole world was united to
pay respect to a great man. Over a billion Catholics mourned the death of
perhaps the greatest pontiff our Church has had. Crowds attended his
funeral in record numbers, while millions observed the funeral on their
television screens at home. More than two hundred world leaders went to Rome for the event, there were representatives of
different religions paying their respects to this great apostle of Christ.
Pope John Paul II enters history as a man of all
peoples, a charismatic pontiff with many qualities. A missionary who
visited 129 countries, a humanitarian who advocated for the rights of
women, children and the oppressed, a Christian philosopher inspired by the
Holy Spirit, a dedicated religious writer who surrendered his life to
Christ and his Church.
He lived the gospel of Christ to the letter, for this
reason here is compilation of some of his great moments.
A man for all peoples
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
Matt 28:19-20
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with
you always, even to the end of the age."
