 Thanksgiving
prayer for the deceased Holy Father the Pope John Paul II
Heavenly Father Almighty God. It is with great sadness that we
have received the news of the death of our beloved Pope John Paul II.
We appreciate your Divine Will and accept your
calling for Him to be by your side.
His departure leaves a great void in our hearts and in our Holy
Mother Church, because he was an unprecedented leader for our modern
times. He managed to touch the hearts of millions of people throughout
the world not only Catholics but peoples of all religions and walks of
life.
We praise you and we thank you most generous Father for having
given us a such a charismatic Pontiff, who stood firm defending our
traditions and Orthodox Catholic beliefs, who protected our faith with
the sword of his conviction just as Peter your first Vicar on earth.
Blessed Mother Mary we ask you to receive the soul of John Paul
II, the Pope of your predilection and present Him before the
Heavenly Throne.
We pray for him to enjoy the heavenly rewards prepared for the
merciful, the peacemakers, the just and all the elected of God. We pray
for his welcome into Heaven as one of the great apostles
of Christ.
We also pray that God will continue to bless the Church by
giving us a new Pope, in line with all the beliefs and convictions of
John Paul II.
We pray for the Catholic Church to continue to be strong in this
world so tainted with atheism and immoral values.
John Paul II, in your new position in Heaven we ask you to pray
for this humanity to be saved.
We say this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
