If someone who is blind leads another, they both fall into a pit says the Lord [Mt 15:14]
Jesus is the Light of the world, [John 8:12] without light we can not see, so He has come to lead us into His path of Light to His spiritual world which is Heaven for us. He has come to teach us how to live according to His commandment "Love one another as I have loved you" [John 13:34]. He is not only the way to the Father in Heaven, but He has left the way for us to follow. The Church is the mystical body of Christ, therefore it is also the Way, the Truth and the Life. Jesus said that He would be with His Church until the end of times.
In Isaiah 7:14 it was predicted as a sign from God that a child would be born of a virgin, His name would be Emanuel which means God is with us. Even though He died, He remains in Spirit with us, and He is truly present in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist just as He is present in the other sacraments of the Church. He continues to guide us through the teachings of the holy Catholic Church and His light is always our light.
Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in Him, if you stay in my
Word you will be truly my disciples, you will come to know the truth and the truth will
set you free.
[John 8:31-32] He is also telling us to believe in His Word.
We must read the Holy Scriptures regularly to become acquainted with Jesus, so that we can love Him more, and that through the knowledge of the truth we may be His worthy servants.
To remain in the Word of God is to remain in the Truth, there is no compromise. The Word of God purifies us [John 15:3] and makes us true disciples of Jesus.
The Word of God obtains for us freedom from the slavery of sin. We are truly renovated by His Word, because His Words are spirit and life [John 6:63].
John 6:40 And this is the will of my Father that sent me: that every one who sees the Son, and believes in him, may have life everlasting, and I will raise him up in the last day.
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, He has proved it by His own resurrection. He raised Lazarus to life in order to show His Power, but greater still is the power to give eternal life [John 11:43-44].
As Good Shepherd He has given His life for His sheep, Jesus came so that we could have life and have it abundantly [Jn. 10:10] , by His holy wounds we have been healed [Isaiah 53:5], that is, our souls have been restored to health by His forgiveness and through our faith in Him even though we die, we will live; and as we live in Him we will never die eternally.[Jn. 11:25-26]
In John 6:55 the Lord says: He that eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, has everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.
Therefore the Lord is calling us to partake of this holy banquet [Isaiah 25:6-9] which He has prepared for us, the Bread of Life, the Holy Eucharist, our Passover meal, the true living manna which came down from Heaven and is available in this Holy Sacrament of the Catholic Church.
In John 6:39 the Lord rebukes those who search the Scriptures thinking that in them they find eternal life; He says that they only testify on His behalf, therefore blinded by pride they still refuse to come to Him to have life.
