Power from above
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
So what is that power that we will receive when the Holy Spirit comes?
To have power is a very tempting invitation. Jesus invited the apostles and everyone who believes in Him to receive the power from above, the power of the Holy Spirit.
The power from above is not as any earthly limited power, it happens to be the same power of God which is the creative power that sustains the universe.
The dynamic power of God has the ability to transform a simple human being Into a perfect child of God who is capable of doing the will of God and of becoming His instrument to carry out His work and to even participate in the execution of miracles.
The world provides us with lots of temptations to have pleasures, riches and power. All these things may be good for us at first, but in the long run overcome the soul and dissipate our spirituality. The power of the world is very dangerous because it gets mixed with pride and the result is to destroy the spirituality of man, therefore robbing him the ability to receive the power from above. Once we receive that power we have more options in our life. (2 Timothy 1:7 ) for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control.
I am writing these lines as a witness of this power of God which is present in the Holy Spirit. I never imagined that without being a saint I would be able to witness that holy power perform miracles of healing and respond to my humble prayers. I have received messages from God teaching me how to acquire this power, I never boast about it; on the contrary this is a reason for me to humble myself even more before the presence of God. The power of God cannot be misused because it carries a holy purpose. Either we use it for good or it does not occur. The power of the Holy Spirit is only carried out when our will is in accordance with the will of God.
Many people attempt to obtain power to change physical laws; they seek to find knowledge of the occult for their purpose. They end up taking the road of perdition because they are defying the Will of God.
The Acts of the Apostles tell us about a case of a magician
Acts 8:9-11
9 Now a certain man named Simon had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he was someone great.
10 All of them, from the least to the greatest, listened to him eagerly, saying, "This man is the power of God that is called Great."
11 And they listened eagerly to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic.
Acts 8:18-24
18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,
19 saying, "Give me also this power so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God's gift with money!
21 You have no part or share in this, for your heart is not right before God.
22 Repent therefore of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and the chains of wickedness."
The power of God has nothing to do with magic, it is a gift of faith and it is very pure.
It is my desire to share these findings so that we can all glorify God and become his faithful instruments. The power of God is very real, miracles are happening today as in the time of Jesus. The source is open; all we need to do is to learn how to come to the gates and we also need a key.
We have been created to share the power of God because we are His children. All we need to do is to become aware of the reality of the gifts of God and to merit them by becoming his friends.
All the gifts of God can be obtained if we change our worldly spirit for the Holy Spirit of God. We are temples of the Holy Spirit, we must empty our temples of the spirit of the world and allow the Holy Spirit to manifest, think, will and act through us. This is not an impossible task; we are going to discover how to achieve that.
