Saint Augustine of Hippo Saint Augustine of Hippo

Also Known As aka Aurelius Augustinus. His father was a pagan who wanted him to be an intellectual; his mother was Saint Monica, a devout Christian who wanted him to be a man of God, she prayed many years for his conversion.

He despised the good counsel of his mother and left home at the age of 15 to live with a Cathaginian woman until the age of 30, he had a Son that he named Adeotadus.

During all this time, Augustine fell into theological errors including being a Manichaean for several years.

He was baptized at the age of thirty three by St. Ambrose, then he became a Priest and later the Bishop of Hippo in North America.

He wrote many books, including his Confessions. He is most remembered for this line: "Our hearts were made for You, O Lord, and they are restless until they rest in you."
