John sat next to the Lord in the Last Supper and was the only one of the twelve not to forsake the Master in the hour of His Passion, he stood at the foot of the cross. Our Lord entrusted Mary his mother to Him, he took her to his home and protected her. Upon hearing of the Resurrection, he was the first to reach the tomb; when he met the risen Lord at the lake of Tiberias, he was the first to recognize Him.
During the era of the new Church, he worked in Jerusalem and at Ephesus. He was
first imprisoned with Peter for preaching after Pentecost. He is the author of the fourth
Gospel, three Epistles, and the Book of Revelation.
His writings put great emphasis on Jesus as being the Son of God, they reveal that He
is the Word of God who became flesh and that anyone who believes in Him will have
everlasting life.
